Spring Break Theater Camp 2025

Little Sprouts Summer Theater Camps
(For Ages 6-10)

Little Sprouts Camps will run Monday, July 21st – Friday, July 25th, 2025, with morning and afternoon camps which are suitable for children in grades K-4 (ages 6-10). This camp offers 2 one-week camps, allowing the tiniest of thespians to explore the basics of acting, music, and movement as a team in a fun environment and to perform a mini-show for the community.

About the show: Villagers of Nearhere are fed up with living under siege of the Stone Dragon, who keeps dropping rocks from the sky! Residents are forced to stay inside, wear a helmet, or suffer the consequences! Smart villager Bookseller offers up a plan: find a brave knight to defeat the Stone Dragon and restore peace to Nearhere. The only problem is nobody in the village knows any knights, so four brave villagers set out to find knights willing to fight the ferocious dragon. After the knights prove to be no help and hope seems lost, a renowned chef shows up and shares the perfect recipe for successfully dealing with the Stone Dragon.

Youth Summer Theater Camp 2025
Dr. Dolittle Jr.

(For Ages 10-18)

This is a three-week-long all-day camp for different aspects of theater life. This camp goes into a full theater production on the Ragland stage. Not only do they learn about theater etiquette, staging, singing music, and dancing, but we dive into Improv, making sets/props, costumes, tech for sound and video, and backstage crew.

Whether your student wants to be out front on stage and perform, or be behind the scenes and learn what it takes to put the show on, or even learn how to be a Stage Manager, this is the camp for you.

For High School juniors and seniors, we offer an internship on the business side of what it takes to organize, put plans for all the camps in place, and run each camp.

About the Show: The musical tells the classic tale of a wacky, but kind, doctor who can talk to animals, taking the audience on a journey from the small English village of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh to the far corners of the world. When Doctor Dolittle attempts to help a seal named Sophie, he’s wrongly accused of murder and stands trial before General Bellowes. Once pronounced innocent, Dolittle is free to continue with his search for the Great Pink Sea Snail — the oldest and wisest of the creatures on earth.

Book, Music and Lyrics by Leslie Bricusse
Based on the “Doctor Dolittle” stories by Hugh Lofting and the Twentieth Century Fox film

About the show: Missoula Children’s Theatre presents Alice in Wonderland, an original adaptation based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The story begins with Alice and her older sister Margaret reading together. Margaret becomes frustrated, as Alice is curious about absolutely everything. Suddenly, a White Rabbit appears from nowhere. After a quick and nonsensical conversation, Alice follows the rabbit to a strange and wonderful place. In the course of her adventures, Alice meets a band of Flowers, the King and Queen of Hearts, the Knave and the rest of the suit of Cards, a giant Caterpillar, a Fish, a Frog, the Duchess, the Cook, the Cheshire Cat, the Gryphon, the Mock Turtle, a group of singing Lobsters, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse and Humpty Dumpty. Through it all, Alice grows “curiouser and curiouser” as to where she is and even who she is. In the end, the answers she seeks are unimportant. Wonderland is all nonsense, anyway. As the White Rabbit explains, “Nonsense is fun!”
